
Ciara Mageean has qualified for next month’s World Indoor Championships in Belgrade after an impressive win in her opening race of the indoor season.
The County Down runner was victorious in the 3,000m at the World Indoor Tour meeting in Manchester.
Mageean clocked a time of 8:47.23, a second faster than her previous best. The current Irish record is 8:43.74, which was set by Mary Cullen in 2009.
Georgie Hartigan was third in the 1,500m while Sarah Lavin came second in the 60m hurdles.
