Sixth Time Lucky for Sheridan?

Former Ireland international John Sheridan has been appointed as Oldham Athletic manager – for the sixth time!

Sheridan, who played for Ireland at the 1994 World Cup, has been handed a major challenge, with Oldham in grave danger of dropping out of the English Football League. They sit in the relegation zone of League Two, which is the fourth tier of English football.

Sheridan defied the odds and avoided relegation with Oldham in 2017 and 2018, and fans will hope he can make it a treble.

Even if Sheridan does avoid the drop, he shouldn’t expect to remain as manager for long. Since 2018 Oldham have had 11 different managers!

Oldham played in the first two seasons of the Premier League before getting relegated in 1994.
